HOW DOES IT WORK?
New content gets released into your student dashboard every Friday.
This is NOT boring "theory" content. This is hands-on practical knowledge that you can apply right away. Designed and recorded by Marc Jovani exclusively for Momentum. This is how the content is structured:
First, Marc will explain you a concept (ei. how to compose a suspense cue, how to mix an action cue).
Then Marc will compose live so you can see the exact process.
Finally... challenge time! Keep reading:
When you're composing, hours go by without realizing it! Right? That's because you love it and you're passionate about it. We're going to use that to our advantage.
Instead of learning by studying, you're going to learn by doing (which is way more effective).
Every Friday, at the end of the lesson you're going to be challenged to COMPOSE a short piece of music in a particular style (based on what you've learned).
That's very simple and effective, because you copying and learning from Marc's "moves". But at the same time it's challenging... you'll find some roadblocks, that's why next thing is... (keep reading)
Every week, sit down on a Zoom call with your mentor for a live music feedback session. Your teacher will tell you what you could do to improve your music or production.
This is NOT a "great work keep it up" type of feedback.
This is a lengthy live review of your work, where you get an in depth – almost surgical – critique of your music with practical applicable action points to improve your cue.
Generally speaking, creative people work better when there's a deadline. We need a reason to stop perfecting our work and submit it! 😅
We use deadlines to our advantage. Every Thursday you can upload your music for review. You can choose which mentor you want your music to be reviewed by.
Stuck, questions, need support? Jump on a live call on Zoom with one of your mentors. There are many of these scheduled each week.
These are additional classes on top of the Music Critique sessions
1) Dirk Ehlert (composer, co-founder of De-tune music production company)
2) Jose Cancela (5 time Emmy Award winner composer)
3) Nathan Blume (Composer: The Flash, Arrow)
The three of them review music, do Q&A sessions, and topic based workshops each week
There are
Three music review sessions per week (one per teacher).
three live Q&A/topic-based-workshop per week (one per teacher)
Note that even though they are the main teachers, depending on the size of the group we could bring more teachers to give you the best support.
All these classes are self paced. They happen on a weekly basis. If you want to go faster, you can follow this cadence every week (please note you can upload and get music reviewed up to once per week)
If you want to go slower, you can do this every other week, every three weeks, or whatever fits best your schedule.
All of these classes and reviews get recorded and you can watch the replay at any time.
OPTIONAL "ADD-ON" MONTH-LONG WORKSHOPS
Inside Momentum X, we offer optional workshops with renowned Hollywood composers.
These are month long. You'll work with composers with big credits like Chris Young (Spiderman), award winning pros like Dennis Sands (5 time Oscar nominated mixing engineer), video game composers like Lennie Moore (Star Wars, Call of Duty, Outcast), etc.
Depending on the workshop, these big-name composers will teach you about production, mixing, mastering and much more. See teachers and topics in the TEACHERS section below.
In a nutshell, these classes are your ticket to learning from the Hollywood elite and getting a head start in your composing career.
Keep reading to STRUCTURE:
The first week is generally dedicated to teaching and presenting the assignment.
The renowned composers will first teach a lesson (ie. efficient ways to score an action animation scene).
Then, the'll introduce the assignment. For example, Christopher Young will present you with a variety of movie scenes. For instance, he might show scenes from the Spider-Man movie directed by Sam Raimi.
You then have to pick one of these scenes.
Once you've picked a scene, you'll get something called 'spotting notes', which are the notes the director gave Chris to work on those scenes. They help guide you on how to compose music for that particular scene.
Then you'll be assigned to write music for that scene.
The composer will review your music.
They'll spend time with you, reviewing your music, to provide you with comprehensive support and feedback.
This is like having a personal coach in sports who helps you understand your strengths and areas for improvement, guiding you toward becoming a better player.
Similarly, these mentors guide you toward becoming a better composer.
Just like in real life, when you get notes from your client (director/producer) you'd do rewrites..
Same concept here. After receiving the feedback from your mentors, you'll have a chance to rework your music and make changes based on their notes.
Then, you'll meet with your mentor again with them for one extra final revision.
The workshops in the Momentum X program are month-long events scheduled monthly, based on the availability of our esteemed Hollywood composer mentors.
Since these high-profile professionals have variable schedules, we confirm workshop dates one month in advance, allowing participants to plan accordingly for a fully immersive experience.
These workshops featuring specialized topics taught by high-profile industry experts, are optional "add-ons".
These workshops are NOT included in the core curriculum, and require an additional fee to attend.
They offer participants the opportunity to delve deeper into specific areas of interest and learn from renowned professionals.
These add-ons are designed to complement and enhance the learning experience for those who seek more specialized knowledge and are willing to invest further in their education.
The price depends on the teacher and is announced one month in advance. But generally speaking they range between $1,000 to $3,000.
These workshops are limited to 20 spots each.
Among others, we've had workshops with composers such as Chris Young on thematic scoring, Lennie Moore on video game scoring, Amie Doherty on animation film scoring, Doug Campbell on storytelling with music, and Dennis Sands on mixing.

There are at least FOUR classes per week
- One Q&A class (1 hour)
- One topic-based workshop (1 hour)

In the Momentum X program, the level of interaction with your teachers is high. You'll meet with composers who are currently active working in the industry at least four times per week.
There are three ways of how you interact:
1) MUSIC CRITIQUE
You'll get assignments to complete (ie. composing a music piece, scoring a scene from a movie, etc). You'll compose the music based on a set of instructions. Then you'll upload your work for your teacher to review.
Finally, you'll meet with the teachers. They'll critique your music, giving you valuable feedback like a coach would, helping you improve and refine your skills. It's a very hands-on approach, with lots of direct interaction and feedback from these top industry professionals.
2) Q&A
Group class on Zoom where you can ask any type of question to your teacher.
3) TOPIC BASED WORKSHOPS
Group class on Zoom. The topic is set in advance (ie orchestral template, advanced compression techniques for orchestral music, mastering, workflow optimization for increasing composing speed, etc). During the first part of the class, the teacher will talk about that topic. The remaining part of the session will be open mic Q&A discussion.
Yes. You can stay as long as you want. You'll be paying $500 each month for as long as you want to stay.

You can do it yourself. And you can cancel at any time. There's a cancel button and this will automatically stop the monthly payments.
