Modern Harmony
Sometimes we know what we want to say musically but we find some limitations on the language, especially when it comes to harmony. Expand your Musical Horizons
Writing a 2 minutes theme can be hard sometimes, but we can still manage to accomplish it with effort, trial and error, and a little bit of inspiration.
But when it comes to developing that theme into a 90 minutes movie soundtrack, a symphony, or many hours of music for a video game… creating different moods and articulating multiple emotional shifts... Now, this can get frustrating!
It’s kinda like trying to express something complex, trying to NOT sound repetitive, but still not finding the exact words to say it the right way.
The simple fact is, the more vocabulary we have, the more things we can say. And the richer our language, the more precise we’ll be able to be to express our musical ideas.
The course - Musical Freedom
That’s why we created this course: Modern Harmony
Our mission with this course is to help musicians improve their vocabulary. To give them freedom and control, from the basic tonal functions and modal language to more advanced concepts with new and useful flavors. To get a grip of all modes; and break free from just using major and minor flavors, and start exploring melodic minor, harmonic minor, octatonic scale, and so on.
Our instructor, Tony Domenech, devoted more than 20 years teaching modern harmony to people of different levels, first in a private modern music school in Valencia, Spain, and later, thanks to the Internet, to thousands of students from all over the world. Meet your instructor
He really loves teaching; you’ll feel it immediately as soon as you start the classes with him.
Tony is interested in harmony, melodies, rhythm, voicings, development. He especially loves films and soundtracks. He’s especially good at explaining the most complicated concepts in an easy to understand way,
He loves sharing and helping as much as he can.
We chose Tony not because of his expertise but because if someone can speak about harmony and making it accessible to anyone, that’s him!
"If I could define in one word what getting a grip of harmony is going to give you, it would be:
Freedom.
Because when we learn music far beyond the usual seven modes, when we know how to work with them, how to blend them and make them work for us, expressing ourselves becomes easier. And THEN, we can truly serve others: composing for other artists, directors, game developers, and anyone that needs our music to enhance the experience of their own work."
